Eheim Substrat Pro is an optimized bio-filter media with excellent volume usage. Substrat Pro offers long intervals between cleaning and top decomposition performance. Substrat Pro consists of pearl-shaped sintered glass beads with a spherical shape that gives a high bulk density. Thus, the full volume in the filter (filter baskets or modules) is utilized. The optimum surface of the beads provides great colonization for beneficial purification bacteria. Due to the high number of bacteria, peak nitrite loads are reduced and the maintenance intervals of the filter material are longer.
